Unbelievably Mount Gede

It was my first time hiking a mountain to the top, so was for Berna and Marlon the Filipinos. Lucky we had Rama and Simsim who're the expertise so I felt confident enough to do that. I knew it wouldn't be easy to hike reaching the top, but I didn't really matter it. And you know what, the fact is, it is. It's not easy at all. Hahahahaa! Even for the first 30 minutes walking I had a doubt in my mind already, "could I make it to the top?". Yea, because we needed 8 hours more to walk, hosh. It seemed impossible for me... But since we've started walking, we committed to ourself to finish what we've begun. Slow but sure, 10 hours passed and finally we were on the top.

It was a special moment for Rama as well, celebrating his graduation at the peak of Gede mountain! yeeaaaaaaa!!!! We all are so happy for him! :D I couldn't tell how satisfy we were, pushing our limit and proving that we were able.

4 hari perjalanan kami di Jogja bagi saya adalah perjalanan yang superb. Saya percaya setiap perjalanan punya ke-superb-an masing-masing, namun kali ini ke-freak-an teman-teman seperjalanan saya sungguh tak tertandingi. Saya saja sampai susah dibuatnya. Maksudnya, susah kalau tidak ikutan freak :))).

Oke, mulai lebih serius.
Jelas-jelas saya jatuh cinta terhadap kota ini dan menaruh respek tinggi untuk semua yang ada di dalamnya.
Walau ini bukan kunjungan pertama saya ke Jogja, tapi secara personal, baru kali inilah saya benar-benar secara serius mencoba untuk mengenal Jogja lebih dalam.

Saya banyak menemukan tempat-tempat menarik di Jogja, sampai-sampai kagum dibuatnya, apalagi tentang kehidupan Keraton dan kesetiaan abdi dalem. Pun terpukau dengan sejarah yang pernah menyentuh Jogja dan sekitarnya, dengan kebudayaan yang dimiliki, terlebih ketika menyaksikan sendratari Ramayana berlatar belakang Candi Prambanan. Ah, keren, sampai mau nangis rasanya...

Saya sangat menghargai karakter orang lokal yang tenang, sopan, bersahabat dan senang menolong, ya tak terkecuali para tukang becak, walaupun terkadang sering gigih banget nawarin untuk keliling dagadu dan bakpia sekitar. Bagaimanapun, sangat nyaman rasanya tidak perlu dengar teriakan-teriakan tak penting, apalagi bunyi klakson berlebihan di jalanan. Itulah Yogyakarta.

Bersyukur karena trip saya ke Jogja kali ini bisa dikatakan lengkap, saya sih puas. Maksudnya, dalam waktu hanya 4 hari, dengan tujuan awal hanya untuk menyaksikan pertunjukkan Sendratari, ternyata berujung dengan eksplorasi tinggi. Rasanya tak rela saja kalau daerah semenarik ini tidak dieksplor. Kami sempat melihat keindahan pantai-pantai di Gunung Kidul, mengunjungi candi Borobudur dan Prambanan, Keliling Kota Jogja, Keraton, Alun-Alun dan beberapa museum penting, ke Kaliurang, puncaknya Jogja, dan yang paling menarik bagi saya, adalah kami sempat mampir ke Merapi, Sleman, menginjakkan kaki di tanah vulkanik yang telah menimbun beberapa desa. Maaf, kali itu, di tempat itu, semua tidak ada yang bisa bertingkah freak, semuanya tenang, merasa prihatin, termasuk saya. Apalagi, salah satu rumah yang atapnya 'nyembul' dari tanah itu adalah rumah milik supir kami. Benar-benar saya prihatin ketika menginjakkan kaki di tanah Merapi, tapi mendengar curhatan dari sang supir, di situlah saya melihat kepasrahan berlapis ketegaran. Saya sih yakin, mereka akan mampu berdiri tegap kembali, mereka akan pulih lagi. Untuk orang-orang sebaik ini, akan selalu ada solusi.

Yes, yes.. tak ada kata yang lebih tepat untuk menggambarkan Yogyakarta, selain kata "Istimewa". Yogyakarta memang benar-benar istimewa. Makanya, benar-benar tak salah kalau dinamakan Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY).

Pari Island Getaway

Pari island complex is located in Seribu islands, about 35km north-west of Jakarta. The island can be reached by boat from Tanjung Priok, Marina and other harbours in Jakarta, and also from Rawasaban, Tangerang.

This island is one of the island with population inside it, totally different with Pramuka and Tidung island, this island is still unfamous for being a tourist destination. This island is famous as a area of sea grass conservation and most of the islands is covered by mangrove vegetation.

I was interviewed.

Oh, no no no... not for finding a job in a company, but to find a chance to explore Indonesia for free, he he.

Yep, It was a program from detikcom, called ACI (Aku Cinta Indonesia). The concept is they select 60 people (from hundred thousands registrants) to be divided into 20 teams and each team will explore a place/ province in Indonesia then write their travel journal to be shared to public and let them know that Indonesia is very beautiful and unique and is deserved to be loved. Very nice concept.

Today I attended the interview session, part of filtering from 750 chosen candidates into 60 only. A very tight selection. Anyway, I thank God for this opportunity, hopefully I get in :).

I'm personally happy to meet those new people with the mostly same vision, in loving Indonesia. Also delighting to see some names in the list that I know quite well. And yeah, so fun hat I met my friend again in this interview session, Babeh Faizal, the good friend of mine that I first met in my trip to Kiluan-Lampung last April, but he's getting crazier now. Hahaha...

But Friends, really, do traveling domestically, however it gives the same pride as you travel abroad. Enjoy our nature, get to know our culture, be friend with our people. Indeed, it's a way to love our country, Indonesia :).

More Than Just Medals

Tonight was just so special and was inspiring me. Invited by a friend to attend Kick Andy live talk show in Metro TV for taping.

The guests were special too, the special-needs athletes who just returned from Athens. They took part in the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2011 and came back with 15 gold; 13 silver; 11 bronze medals for Indonesia. Cool.

In spite of their disabilities, they still contribute for the nation. See? How couldn't I be inspired...

Mocca Last Show

Mocca, a local indie band from Bandung, Indonesia. Had reached the year 12 of their existence and about to break up for a good reason. The vocalist is getting married a Lucky Man and leaving Indonesia. Therefore as a memory, they held a last concert in Jakarta, to recall The Best Thing happened in the last 12 years. I personally respect all their decision, no matter what, I Love You Anyway.

I Remember, from the first time I listened their song, I Think I'm in Love with them, and soon I became their Secret Admirer.

Last year when I was in Kiev, Ukraine, on a Sunday Afternoon, I was hanging out with some foreign friends, some were from China. While we were keep talking and laughing, a cell phone was ringing, and it was my Chinese friend's phone which was ringing. and Oh No, You know what the ringtone was? It was "I Remember" from Mocca.

I was so surprise, yet proud. And finally the topic was moving to Mocca and later on all our friends turning on their bluetooth, asking for Mocca's song, he he. very nice...

Sahabat Anak Jamboree 2011

600 volunteers.

2 days 1 night.

Being friends, play and happy.

Yeah, Sahabat Anak Jamboree! the annual event of Sahabat Anak just had held in Jakarta! With the highest quota of participants along the record of SA Jamboree, we had such days! The theme itself was PLAYING, so those 2 days were full of games and fun activities; Amazing race in Ragunan zoo, fun concert night, and a whole playing day!

The main point that we wanna share to public is, that every child has right to play, including the street kids and marginalized children. The living in the street and the pressure to earn living at their age sometimes force them to forget about their right to enjoy their childhood.

Hopefully, this jamboree (that they've been always longing for each year) could become such a break for them from their daily life, and enjoyed the togetherness with all friends including the volunteers.

Me as the part of the crew was so happy to help in this event, yet feel as free as a child whenever I captured smile on their face.

The Unforgettable Bunaken

This trip at Bunaken was unbelievably unforgettable.

Despite of all those fuckin' AMAZING corals (which are obvious), we met lots of nice people and having such a wonderful time.

Started with a coincidentally matching schedule and kindness from uncle Budi who let us join him to Bunaken with his diving team from Manado. Yep, all those friendly divers, who now become our good friends.

And oh, also we got chance to try diving intro, which was so exciting, ho ho...

Then at the Bunaken Island, we were so welcome by Lorenso, the owner of the Lorenso cottage. Lorenso, a very nice humble guy, who now becomes our good friend as well.

It's so nice to visit a beautiful place. But it would be even nicer to realize that you're going with right person, and meeting the right people. All those captured moments, were practically unforgettable :).

Mood VS Deadline :))))

I was in a deadline, lots of work to be done before I flew to Manado, North Celebes, in the next morning.

But my eyes were just wandering, seeing the sunflower picture on my desk, then a bucket of sunflower, then a word "Girasole" on a sticker label stuck on my wall, it's a sunflower field in Italy, very famous one, and it's my dream to get there as well.

I was just realize (more), how interesting sunflower is... It's so attractive, bright, cheerful and full of spirit!

My eyes kept wandering, till it stopped on a white spot area, left on my wall, precisely above the sketch of buildings in Amsterdam. Then suddenly I took my cousin's crayon, went up to the table and reached the wall, drawing a big sunflower on the wall, and it was going very well and full of good mood! Oh dear, it felt so great! When you got the mood to create, for me it's so precious, more than your deadline. Ha ha, doesn't mean I put aside my responsibility, sure I'll finish it.

But really...

Even in the midst of a deadline, the sudden mood to create things must be prioritized.

That's my belief :).

Rachael's Farewell Night

Rachael is one of volunteer teacher in Sahabat Anak Prumpung, well as our best friend.

Last Friday (May 27, 2011) was her farewell night with her students and us, as she's going back to Scotland for studying purpose. Sure it was a sad night, saying goodbye to her. But, instead of saying goodbye, a sweet promise to meet again someday would be a better choice.

The Wondrous Palangkaraya

Palangkaraya is special for me. Containing a very beautiful warm nature with nice local people.

Caught a morning flight, arrived in Palangkaraya, started the journey to Bukit Doa Karmel Tangkiling, then Taman Alam. Visiting Tahai Lake in Tangkiling was also exciting. The water's color is red, because of the peat land, that's so unique anyway. In the afternoon we went down the Rungan River to see the habitat of Orang Utan.

Many places to visit and to explore.

The morning market, the city park, BOS (orang utan conservation), trace the Kahayan River, visit Kumkum - a small zoo in Pahandut Seberang and take pictures in Palangkaraya statue.

So many places, so little time :P.

But one moment I can't forget was the barbeque night in Babugus (east part of Palangkaraya) with our local friend and his family, staying in their hut in the edge of the forest, playing a silly games and sharing stories. The next morning, we swam in Mangkutup River, not far from the hut. It is a natural river with the red water, cool... super cool!

Kiluan Excitement

Kiluan Bay, located in Lampung, Sumatera, Indonesia. Best known for its dolphins dancing in the morning.

So I was so excited to visit that place. Quite far to reach, but quite worth to know, at least once in a lifetime you have to be there. Watching the freedom of the dolphins will give you an undescribed happy feeling... It's just so beautiful. Such a precious chance :).

since I'm off from office life, means, I work at home and everywhere, and in the same time I'm working on my books project (The Book Is Yours), then I really need my own space to think, to work on my design projects and to produce my book :).

So, this is how the story goes...

My brother and his wife are having a baby, the boy was just born on 10th of February (He's so cute anyway :D), then they said that they will move to our other house in Cibubur, because it's closer with the working place of my brother. Therefore, one room is left in our house now, and I said to my parents, "Can I sleep in my brother's room, and remake my own room becoming a workshop???"

"Sure!" They said... Cool!

So, last week I started taking out-taking in things for my room. My daddy helped me too, and the wonderful things, While doing all the moving, I got a mail from my best friend in Taiwan, his name is Harry, a guy I met while I was doing my project in Ukraine. He sent me a valentine card and message, and Chinese New Year greetings, and you know what, he gave me a coin of Taiwan dollar in a red envelope (as a tradition of giving money in Chinese New Year)! HAHAHA..

After a whole day re-making my workshop, it's finally done!!! Wippie!!!

Now I'm ready to work more diligently! :P

I thank Lord for this age. 23. such a blessing. such a number. you know, feels like in the middle, between 20 and 25. not a teenager anymore, but not old yet, he he. In one point, I just feel that I have to be more responsible for my life, not to waste my time, make wise choices, and start to be more serious about it. But in the other point, that number reminds me more that I shouldn't let any single days go without smiles, joy and happiness. I want smile more, laugh more, love more, dance more and be grateful even more!!! ;D

And oh, from the deepest of my heart, I thank all my great friends, for all those beautiful wishes for me and for TBIY, for the surprise and for your love. I'm the luckiest person on earth having wonderful friends like you all.
I know God read this note and He will bless you back abundantly ;). Berpelukaaannnnn!!!!!! :D

Year End 2010 at Ciputih Beach

Ciputih Beach is located in Ujung Kulon. Really, it's a super beautiful beach, clean as well. Such a tranquil spot, far away from the city life.

We celebrated new year 2011 there, yiayy! :D

The resort (Ciputih Beach Resort) was very affordable, about 350k - 450k per night, which could fit 4 people in :D, and the facilities are really good :).

But oh, the road to get there was the 'lil problem, it was not well-maintained, holes and bad road kept our car moving slowly.

But anyway, the beauty of the destination could replace all of the obstacles on its way :).

A Marriage.

Listening to the love stories from people around me, about the ups and downs of a relationship, and attending some weddings of my friends, open my point of view about a marriage.

I travelled and met lots of people from many different countries. for me it's a blessing so I can broaden my mind, we can share knowledge and experience and in the same time I could know their point of view in seeing things, emm.. such as marriage for example.

I've ever met a french girl in my trip, she became a good friend of mine, and when we talk about relationship, she said that quite most of young people in her country, don't see a marriage as an important thing. "People doesn't need to get married," she said.

It's not weird at all. I also met some other European even Asian people, who don't want to get married.
Of course, with all humility, I do appreciate them with their decision and opinion :).

But personally, I ALWAYS proud of a married couple.
For me, to reach this stage is such a great achievement.
Why do I call it "achievement"?
Because they're succeed to defeat all their doubts and fears.
They're brave enough to put aside their ego; to halve their heart and share it to one another.

Because they have a faith and hope.
Committed to always love, join hands and step forward, whatever they will face.
Whatever.

For me, marriage is a wonderful blessing.
I want it too one day :).

Simsim Goes to India

One of my best friend, Simsim, was about to go backpacking to India, I knew it would be so exciting for her since India is her 'dream' country to visit.

A week before she went to India, she asked me whether I can draw an illustration for her or not. She had the concept already :D, the cloth (sari), the belly and the backpack. Ha ha, cool!

Of course I was interested to make it for her. So here it is :).

(And oh, the story of her trip in India was totally... incredible :). Lots of struggles that must be passed, in case of food, living, society, and belief. wooffh....

Hence there's a saying, a real traveler would've checked "India" in their list.)

Emhh... I've never been there.

But if you ask me whether I have the guts to go there or not, emhh... maybe I'd rather choose not to be a real traveler.. yet. ha ha.

Looking for a good hostel in Silom, Bangkok?

Hopefully this review would be helpful... :)

This is a very nice, comfortable, clean and valuable hostel in Bangkok I recommend.

Really, with nice staffs and stuffs, I can say that this is the best spot in Silom to stay in.

Started from a good interior - modern design, then the nice facilitation and wi-fi and library, really helped me to do lots of things there. It's just so cozy.

The other thing I like most about this hostel is.. the cleanliness and the super comfortable bed, really. besides, the bathroom/ toilet is also very comfortable and clean. So much different with the usual cheap hostels I used to stay.

With such quality and standard and comfort, in the price that they have, I can say it is so much worth. :)

140RM! - Malaysia Day 2

First of all, today is Sunday and it's Passion Sunday (Palm) in Christian. So, for me it's a special day anyway. So, my first goal to reach while I'm in KL on Sunday, is to find a Catholic church and join de Palm Sunday mass. It's uncommon thing for me.

I set the alarm in my handphone at 05.30 am and I woke up right at that time, took a bath, then at 06.00 am walked to the monorail. Yanti helped me to find information about church in KL by asking her KL friends, it's so kind of her, though she's a moslem, she tried best to find me any church information :). Appreciate it so much :).

Finally, I got one name of the nearest church, it's St. John's Cathedral, located in Bukit Nanas, only 2 stations from Bukit Bintang. So, I postponed my breakfast, hope that I didn't miss the mass (because I didn't get any information about the mass schedule) & I presumed that the schedule is not so different with the mass schedule in Jakarta (5.30, 7.00 & 9.00 in the morning), so I planned to be there before 7.

I bought the monorail ticket to Bukit Nanas station, coat 1.30RM & came up the stairs to wait the monorail. Then you know what??! I saw a clock & it showed 07.10 am and of course I was pretty shock! Oh my Lord! I forgot!!! I forgot that Malaysia is 1 hour faster than Jakarta!! Hufff... I said to myself, “Oke then, just go! No problem if the mass is already half way held.” So I continued my mission within prayers, hope to be able to find the church easily :).

At 07.20 I arrived in Bukit nanas. I'm not familiar with the place and have no idea where the St. John's Cathedral was. And FYI, the street was so still, there's no life at all, he he, maybe because it's Sunday, and it's morning. perfect.

I took a wrong way until I met a man who pointed me the right way. But he said it's sooo far, about 25 minutes walking. Humm... okay, I'm ready. So I walked, walked, walked unpredictably, seeing not event any single cross sign, he he. I prayed in my heart, I said, “God, would you please lead me Your way, bring me to Your church to attend Your mass. Amen.”

I kept walking with eyes searching the church. I found nothing (and no one) along the street. After about 30 minutes walking, I found a man and asked hin the Saint John's location. And yeah!!! he knew the place!!! Just right near the place where I asked him, he showed me a small street, he told me to walked inside & went up the stairs & there's the location of the church. I followed his guide and tarraaaa!!!! I got there!!! And the miracle was... the mass were about to begin in the next 5 minutes, exactly at 8 o'clock. Oh, dear Lord, You're amazing.

I followed the mass within deep gratefulness. I was so happy to attend the Passion Sunday in a church in KL, in St. John's Cathedral. They used English.

About 10.00 am, the mass was finished. the next thing came up in my mind. Wow, should I go back that far to the monorail station like the way I came here before??? Ha ha... but honestly, as human, sometimes we worry too much about those small stuffs which actually not necessary, because God helps us in every single things, even in every single details. God taught me about His love, care and companion through day after day, time after time, as He just did to me this morning.

After the church, I searched for the way back to the hostel & I found that I could take Rapid KL in Masjid Jamek, and changed to monorail in Hang Tuah. But befote I took the Rapid KL, I visited Masjid India first.

At 11.00 am I arrived safely in the hostel, Bukit Bintang (thanks dear Lord! :D), and Azian, our Malaysian friend would soon pick us up at the hostel and took us for lunch at her house and also visit Putrajaya. Ah ya, anyway, I decided to join Azian, and not to Batu Caves, because I thought that meeting friends is more important than visiting a touristic place. I could visit Batu Caves any other time :).

Then Azian and her husband took us. So happy to meet them! :D

We stopped by in Pasar Seni/ Central Market for shopping souvenirs, then went to their house in Syah Alam, Selangor. It took about 35 minutes. We arrived at their beautiful house and had lunch together, heemmm...... delicious food that she made and her sister, Azura, as well. They are so talented in cooking! Teach me please!!! Ha ha ha. We had lunch with Azian's family, and our friend, Lany.

At 02.00 pm, Azian drove us to Blue Mosque/ Masjid Biru, the second largest mosque in the world. Yeah! Beautiful mousque!!! :D

Then, She took 5 of us to Putrajaya, about 20 minutes from Syah Alam. Putrajaya is the government area, the buildings are so modern! A different part of Malaysia, I could say.

We enjoy the sunset, then at 05.30 pm Azian drove us to the LCCT Airport. That's a great experience, yet unforgetable!!! So happy to meet friends in Malaysia. Another precious traveling story, right? :)

Hoho,, it's 16.30 pm Malaysia time (at 15.30, Indonesia 7 Thailand time), we arrived in LCCT Airport in KL! We had our lunch in the plane, I ate chicken rice, cost Rp 27.000/ 9RM and drank Lipton 5RM, shared with Yanti. Yanti also bought an Malaysian number, 9RM.

Arrived at LCCT, I changed my $50 into RM ($1 = 31.9RM). So, I got 159.60RM & gave 32RM ($10) to Siska as money back, because I borrowed her $10 in Krabi. 3.6RM to DC, because I borrowed her money to eat on the airport on the first day, ha ha.

From LCCT to KL Sentral, we took aerobus, cost 8RM. then from KL Sentral, we took monorail to Bukit Bintang, cost 2.10RM. Hufff!!!! So crowded & full!!! I couldn't even breathe :P.

At 6 pm, we arrived at Bukit Bintang & Paradiso Hostel. The hostel is sooooooo close with the monorail station, next to Mc D. We checked in & got he room. 1 room with 3 bunk beds (total = 6 beds), for 5 of us and 1 girl from Brunei. The hostel was so cozy, nice & clean. The bathrooms are also good, with hot water :). It cost 30RM/ night/ person.

So tonight, as we've planned before, we walked along the street to reach the Twin Tower Petronas (KLCC) & ate for dinner in the mall (Surya), ate in the foodcourt. I chose BBQ Chicken Rice (5.50RM) & Three Layers Tea (4.5RM), delicious!

Next, we walked again to the front of the towe & took hundreds of photos!!! Ha ha ha...

At 10.00 pm, we walked back to the hostel (about 20 minutes by foot), stopped by in Seven-Eleven, bought a bottle of water (2.50RM) and landed in the hostel, but me and Disi continuing walking through Bukit Bintang Street, only to see the street crowd.

Now it's 11.00 pm. pretty exhausted & plan to wake up early, to go to St. John Church in Jl. Bukit nanas, for Palm/ Passion Sunday mass. God, please lead me tomorrow :).

Anyway, I haven't decided yet where to go tomorrow, either to Batu Caves ot Putrajaya with Azian (our Malaysian friends). let's see!

So, today is the last day in Krabi... have to say goodbye to this beautiful beach :P. I've done my packing last night, so this morning I could be pretty relax, woke up 'lil bi late & bought some souvenirs. I still owned 121THB, then I bought 3 coin leather bacgs, 100THB & a box of chocolate 25THB.

At 10.00 am, the taxi from Ao nang Orchid Resort picked us up at the front of our hostel, then he drove us to the Krabi International Airport. It took about 30 minutes. Now we're in the airport already, now it's 12.10 am & we're waiting soon to depart :).

Today is our last night in Krabi, a leisure day as well :D!

So, this morning I woke up at 8, then took a bath, Eating pop mie & drank hot tea. At 9 am, I went to the beach and painted a picture at the beach with watercolor & the sea as the view. It was going pretty well, I got the mood. Siska & Disi came joining me, Siska was just laying on the beach while DC was swimming.

Funny thing, when I was painting, there's a local man asking for my drawing, he thought that I'm a local too so he spoke Thai which I didn't understand, then he realized that I'm a tourist, he he. He bargained my painting but unfortunately we didn't meet in suitable price, otherwise I wanted to collect it as well :).

About at 12 am (after 2 hours painting), I went back to the hostel, but first I bought steamed rice in a waroong for my lunch, it cost 15THB. Since I'm a budget traveler, I like to maintain a thick-face, not to be shy anyway, ha ha.

In the afternoon, we all went out to money changer. I changed $10, and got 320THB. Then 3 of us (Yanti, Mei & Siska) decided togo to Krabi Town to shop more souvenirs, but me & Disi chose to stay in Ao Nang, we don't like shopping :). We walked along the Ao nang Beach and reached Nopharra Tarra Beach. It's also a famous beach. hemm... quite far by walking, about 45 minutes (5KM) by foot.

Arrived ath the beach, we lay down discussed about certain things and that's good :). Oh ya, about the beach, I didn't feel that amazed, because it's not so clean, but yeah, it's more quiet and calm. I saw more local people than tourists.

At 06.30 pm we walked back to our hostel, but woww!!! It's so windy & was about to be raining! And yeah, it's raining afterwards. Me and Disi looked a place to shelter and there's a seafood restaurant, ten we went in eating there.

After we're full and the rain had stopped, we continued walking. When we're already arrived in Ao Nang street, there's a funny story, yet emotional. So I stopped by a shopping counter selling necklace and bracelet. With no serious purpose to buy, I asked the man (the seller), “ how much is it?”. He gave a price, then I said, “Okay, thanks”. Then I was about to leave, but you know what, he grabbed his calculator and asked me in his limited english language, “How much you can?”

Then I answered, “Later I come back, thanks”. He said back insistly, “No, you buy now! How much you can?!”

“What?!!! No, I said I'll come back later!” Huff, sorry, I was getting anger with that man. Then I left him behind.

At the end, he said some words in Thai, and I replied back in Indonesian, ha ha ha, fair enough, okay??!

At 08.00 pm we arrived at the hostel, then Yanti, Siska & Mei came after us arrived. At 09.00 pm, we walked again to the beach & shopped. But some restaurants, I didn't know why, was closed tonight, ad tonight was not as crowd as yesterday though this is Friday.

Yiay! Today is our island tour with JC Tour!

So, for breakfast, I ate popmie and grank hot chocolate, pretty full enough to start the day.

At 08.30 am, the JC Tour (driver named: Yi) picked us up at the hostel with the opened-blue car and drove us to the beach as the stating point. I just then understood thet we traveled to those islands together with many people from another island tour as well, so it's not just only JC.

We were in the speed boat no. 5 Ao Nang rchid Bungalow, with Daon as our guide. She's a very nice, talkactive & friendly woman, though she's so masculin as well, he he, but she's got a big concern with the passangers, which is good!

Started from Ao Nang Beach, first our destination is Maya Island, but we passed through some other islands on the way. We passed Phi-Phi Ley. It's an island, which has a cave filled with tons of bird nest that's worth expensively (Daon said, it's sold about 10.000 BATH/ kg). The cave is named Viking Cave, but it's forbidden to be entered. Not far from the bird nest, still in Phi Phi Ley area, there's a lagoon area, surrounded by islands, called Pileh Bay. Very beautiful... really. But we just stayed in the speed boat because we're about to go behind those islands to snorkel. In another side of those islands, in Lohsamah Bay, we snorkeled! We were borrowed the snorkels by Daon. Nice! Lots of small fishes and we fed them our rice from yesterday, then te fishes came closer to us! Hohooo.

After 45 minutes snorkeling, we're brought to Maya Island / Maya bay. So, I just knew the fact that “The Beach” film shooting was not in Phi Phi Don or Ley, but here, in Maya Bay. It increases my curiousity to watch thet film, he he. Oh ya, also the fact that in Maya Island, there's no waterfall or even shark as appeared in “The Beach” film. That's just fake, ha ha.

Next, before we had lunch at 12.00 am, they took us to Monkey Island, but unfortunately there's no monkey seen on the beach, they're just hiding. So we continued leaving the Monkey Island and went toward Phi Phi Don (Island) to have a buffet lunch. Hmm... pretty good and clean for sure, but it's very hot, indeed!

Phi Phi Don is a big island, and there're also many resorts to stay. Anyway, we ate a lot since we're absolutely hungry, and we're totally full, then ready for the next destination. Disi said, “Oh ho... This is our best eating proram afterall!!” ha ha ha. I couldn't more than agree.

We were now in Hin Klarng, an open sea & we're allowed to snorkel for the second time! :D. This time, the coral was more beautiful than in Lohsamah Bay & the fishes are more variable.

Last place, we visited Bamboo Island. There were lots of bamboo before, but during the time, the fisherman came and cut it for fishing etc, so now there's no more bamboo, but pine trees, he he.

We also could snorkel, but I'd rather just lay down on the beach :P.

Finally, we were brought to the last place to be transferred back to our hostel. Woohoooo! What a great day :D!

Tonight, I walked with Yanti along the road, she wanted to make a call, calling her daughter & her mom, so she went to “overseas call service” (cost: 14THB. minute, to handphone in JKT), and I, I stopped by at a mini market buying postcard (cost: 5THB/ piece; stamp: 1THB) & I asked the madam how to send it to my country, Indonesia, and she kindly showed me the way, just drop it in any post boxes placed along the street. Yap, that's my habbit when I traveled abroad. I love to send postcards, especially to my family at home. Even the postcards arrived later than me, ha ha, it just feels funny when I look at it and read it again when I am home already, then collect it.

Me & Yanti continued walking along the street. We tried Thailand pancake with banana, wuiiihhhhh..... lekker! Erg! :D. It's only 20THB. Oh ya, when Yanti made verseas call, we asked about the Phi Phi tour price. So, the fact is... it's cheaper buying the tour when you're in Krabi than buy it online. Example, the Phi Phi price she offered: 1800THB for normal price, but now there's 50% discount, so it'll be just 900THB. Me, I bought the tour via online, cost 1700THB. But That's okay, now we know, right?

About the dinner, once again we kept tight on budget. I bought steamed rice in a restaurant, 30THB/ pax. Ate it in the hostel with some additional food.

Now I'm pretty tired, so happy as well :D. I'm going off to bed, tot later! :)

3300BATH! - Krabi Day 1

Huaaa,, this is the first day of our backpacking adventure in Krabi!! I'm so glad that after such a rush deadline, finally I ended up here in Aonang, with Disi, Siska, Mei-Mei and Mbak Yanti! :D

So this is how we started...

At 5.10 am in the morning, we arrived at CGK, and the procedures began...

1. in Gate D2, did the first Screening

2. Check in at counter 31, put some luggage, got the boarding pass and immigration form

3. Proceeded our free fiscal by bringing & showing our NPWP

4. Went into immigration area, passport's checked, fiscal's checked, immigration form's checked

5. (Time's keeping tight, we're in a rush)

Ran through the corridor to find gate F6, once again, passed the second screening. This time, the screening was tighter than the first one. No liquid more the limit, no dangerous stuff, etc

6. and finally we went inside the plane, sit and put on our seatbelt relievedly (that we're in the plane already)

About 6.30 am, the plane departed. It took about 1, hours to get Malaysia, and the time in Malaysia in one o'clock faster than Jakarta Time. So, we arrived in Kuala Lumpur LCCT Airport at 9.15 am, time in Malaysia/ 8.15 am Indonesia time, then we should wait in LCCT until our departure to Krabi at 13.30. Because LCCT is not a huge airport, we couldn't go that far, so, mostly we spent the midday sitting in "Taste of Asia" Resto, went to the bookstore & walked around.

Two funny things happened in LCCT:

1. When arrived in KL, we were hungry & decided to eat. But since we're budget traveler, yeah, backpacker, we made a trick to spend as few money as possible :P. Disi brought a tup of tempe orek, so in the restaurant, me, Disi & Siska just bought 3 steamed rice and 2 bottle of mineral water. You know what, the cashier was 'lil bit confuse with our order and just gave a meaningful smile, which we didn't care, haha. We just concerned that our trick was successful! I just had to pay 3.6 RM for my own to make my stomach full. ha ha.

2. The second funny thing, I met a man in a bookstore. He greeted me when I looked at book, and he recommended that book to me. After such a while talking and talking, we introduced ourself to each other, and we just knew that we're came from the same country anyway. He's Indonesian as well, ahahahahaaa... His name is Budi, studying for his master in KL. Yeah, a new friend on the way traveling :).

At 13.30, we flew from KL to Krabi-Thailand. Thailand has the same time with Indonesia. It took about 1 hour to get there (from KL), so we arrived at 13.35 (Krabi time). Yiaayyyyyy!!!! So glad to be here!!!

I've never been to Krabi & always excited to visit this place! But the other thing made me happier was, JC tour team picked us up at the airport. We found a man with "Vina Puspita" name on the board. Ho ho... He drove us to the hostel. His name is Baow. Pretty kind person, he told us much about Krabi :).

About 45 minutes from the airport, finally we arrived in our hostel, Anang Grand Inn Hostel. We checked in & paid the room, so did we with JC Tour. We paid the Phi-Phi tour for 1700THB/person & tomorrrow the driver will pick us up from the hostel and take us to some islands.

Oke, about the hostel. We had... emm... not a 'problem', but a 'bargain'. The background is: 3 of our friends who already booked the hostel room together with us, unfortunately had to cancel their trip to Krabi. So the thing is, we had too much room space for only five of us! And the room fee was charged higher for each of us. Bravely, we asked the hostel owner for a bargain, if we could use one room only and reduced our room fee. After such a negotiation, the owner decided to give us reduction fee, so at the end we paid as much as we should paid before (1070 THB/ person - 3 nights - type: triple room). But, for me personally, I'm satisfied with the room. It's pretty large, with toilet inside, AC, refrigerator, hot water & clean as well. Frankly to say, It's indeed more than I expected :).

Next, we walked to the beach, about 1 km from our hostel. Along the street, there're lots of cafes & restaurants, shops & pretty crowd (but not as crowd as Phuket). Arrived at the beach, me Disi & Siska walked along the beach. Yes, many foreigners were sunbathing & we kept walking reached the end of the coast, there's like hills. Oh my, near the hills, there're many cute monkeys playing! So cute!

Next, we stayed watching the sunset and then walking back to the first place I separated from Yanti & Mei Mei.

After I met Yanti & Mei, we continued walking at the pavement, through the street & still lots of restaurants and shops.

Finally we decided to eat in Aining Restaurant, a modern Thai Restaurant. We ordered pizza shared together, quite big and delicious, I can say! The pizza cost 180THB, each person paid 36THB only. Then we took steamed rice away @24THB and as before, ate at our hostel, poured with the tempe orek from Disi added with potato chips from Siska. Huummm.... lekker hoor!!

And now, I'm getting tired and sleepy. Today is a good day to start, new experience & new exploration of my life, enjoy it so much! Tons of joyfulness!

Mnurut gue, ini adalah cara paling asik untuk kabur alias gateaway pada hari" weekend, ke tempat yang gak biasa dengan budget yang luar biasa.

Sebenernya bisa nyampe sini, itu karna ikutan IndoBackPacker Gathering :D

dari Bakauheni - Dermaga Canti, charter angkot aja : 15.000

dari dermaga Canti - Pulau Sebesi naik kapal : 15.000

Nah, dari P. Sebesi, mau mampir ke Pulau Umang-Umang, naek perahu aja, 10-25.000 per orang.

Begitu pula sebaliknya.

Itung punya itung, in the end, I just spent 380.000 rupiahs, so worthed for such an experience! :D

Jumat, 26 Februari 2010. Terima kepada Rotary Club untuk pendanaan atas Program Rumah Karya Sahabat Anak Grogol. Setelah hampir dua tahun mimpi untuk bisa memberikan pendidikan usia dini secara rutin kepada adik-adik jalanan di Grogol tertahan, Sahabat Anak Grogol akhirnya menemukan satu rumah di Jl. Hemat, Jelambar untuk Rumah Karya. Rumah ini dikontrak dari keluarga Pak Jono selama dua tahun sebesar 30 juta rupiah. Pembayaran dilakukan satu tahun dulu, untuk tahun keduanya dilakukan paling lambat akhir Juni 2010.

Untuk menciptakan suasana belajar mengajar yang lebih baik dan nyaman. Persiapan pertama yang dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan pengecatan. Rencananya, semua dinding kelas digambar dengan konsep taman supaya adik-adik merasa bahwa ini adalah tempat yang memang diperuntukkn buat mereka.

Kerangka gambar dibuat oleh Kak Vina, salah satu relawan Sahabat Anak. Setelah itu, pengecatan dilakukan bersama-sama, termasuk adik-adik remaja Sahabat Anak Grogol. Dengan semangat kebersamaan, pegecatan ruang kelas dapat diselesaikan dalam satu hari saja. Dengan demikian, mulai minggu depan, peralatan mengajar yang dibutuhkan mulai bisa dimasukkan.

Terima kasih untuk semua kakak dan adik yang meluangkan waktu liburnya untuk ikut persiapan ini. Minggu depan tolong dibantu lagi untuk masukin meja sama lemari ya. Caiyo .......

Spread The Love Through The Wall

ON VALENTINE'S DAY.

I wasn't dating any man (since I'm single anyway :P), didn't get any flowers, or even giving chocolates.

Being single on Val's day doesn't mean you can't celebrate the Love itself! I did it! :D

I celebrated it by painting a Sahabat Anak study house in Prumpung (East Jakarta) with two of my special friends, Pieta and SimSim. :D

We painted 2 sides of the house, with 2 concepts.

The first concept was: "Cita-Citaku" (the future). What I wanna be when I am grown up?

So we drew a police figure, doctor, artist, and football player :P.

The second concept was: smart/ diligent kids.

Doing proper things, take care the environments, be polite, and study diligently :D.

We Had such a great time, spreading love within our pictures on the wall.

I believe Pie & Sim" have so much love for the kids, therefore they were willing to spare their time beautifying the study house for the kids getting eager to study.

Yeah, that's love. Love is all around, we just need to feel and realize it :D.

This is a silly story, indeed funny.

May 2010, I visited a cafe in Bremen, Germany, with some friends: Adrian, Wandy & Rozi. We had such a good time, drank and chatted. Then I needed to take a pee, sure I went to the toilet.

Oke. Arrived at the toilet area.

There're two doors. One's named Damen, and the other's named Heren.

CONFIDENTLY, I speculated that 'Damen' is come from words 'Men',

so it's indeed the toilet for men.

Otherwise, 'Heren' is come from words 'Her', for women.

Then I opened the 'Heren' door, took a bunch of tissues, and turn left, and O.oo....

I saw a man's potty, and suddenly I realized that I was utterly in a wrong toilet. Perfect :s

Spontaneously I ran throughout the door.

Thank God there's no body in that area at that time. At least no one saw that silliness.

Jalan-jalan kali ini ngebahas one of b’girl!’s fave cities in the world, Paris. Kebetulan aku, Vina Puspita, graphic designer b’girl!, sempat ke sana not too long ago. Just read about my experience in the City of Lights! Joie de Vivre!

Paris Is My Paradise

Aku duduk terlelap di dalam sebuah bus bertingkat yang sedang menuju kota yang termasuk dalam daftar“my dream travel destination”, Paris. Bukan bermaksud tidak ingin menikmati pemandangan di luar, tapi memang benar-benar nggak ada yang bisa dilihat, secara masih jam 4 pagi. Jadi ya tidur saja sepanjang perjalanan.

Aku berangkat dari kota Maastricht. Perjalanan dari Maastricht, Netherlands, menuju Paris berdurasi sekitar lima sampai enam jam menggunakan bus. That's why aku harus berangkat pagi-pagi buta, supaya nggak kesiangan tiba di Paris.

Pukul 9.30 pagi, the adventure begins.... “Wow, where am I?”

“You're in Paris, Darl...,” I answer myself.

Bangunan cantik plus antik di sepanjang jalan, park yang tertata luar biasa, anak-anak lagi main, orang-orang sedang jogging, anjing dan tuannya, kakek-nenek sedang duduk-duduk santai di bangku taman... what a beautiful morning!

Bus terus melaju sepanjang jalan Champs Elysees, taman abad ke-17 yang diubah menjadi jalan yang menghubungkan Place de La Concorde dan Arc de Triomphe. Jalan perbelanjaan yang besar di Paris. Jalan ini bahkan dijuluki La Plus Belle Avenue Du Monde, loh, alias jalan terindah di dunia.

Finally, tibalah aku di depan menara berkerangka besi tempa karya Alexandre Gustav Eiffel. Yup! That's Eiffel Tower! I’m so amazed, Girls! Dibandingkan dengan tingginya yang 300 m itu, aku jadi berasa kecil banget, tapi itu malah memacu adrenalinku. Tertantang buat naik sampai ke ujung puncaknya. Nggak kebayang kayak apa.

Mau nggak mau, aku harus sabar untuk menaiki Menara Eiffel, antrinya itu loooh... puanjaaang! Aku harus mengantri selama sekitar 50 menit untuk beli tiket.

Sebenarnya ada dua pilihan untuk naik ke atas. Pertama, bisa naik lift yang mengangkut kita sampai ke lantai 2 maupun 3 (puncak). Atau cara kedua, yaitu dengan tangga manual!

Sudah pasti harga tiket masuknya berbeda, dan tingkat kelelahannya juga berbeda, he he he.... Untuk biaya masuk dan naik menara, kalau pakai lift berkisar 8-13 euro/person. Sedangkan kalau naik tangga, harga tiketnya hanya 3-4,5 euro/person. Karena hanya sehari di Paris dan nggak mau menyia-nyiakan waktu, aku pilih via lift, supaya lebih cepat, and it costs 9,90 euro (youth price).

Dag-dig-dug, agak ngeri juga, karena lift melaju cepat dan yeah... tinggi banget! But you know what, rasanya semua lelah akibat mengantri tadi hilang seketika setelah aku sampai di puncak menara. Wow! Mantaaaap!

Dari atas terlihat kota Paris yang padat tertata. Dibantu dengan media gambar yang terpampang di sekeliling ruangan puncak, kita bisa mengenal berbagai gedung penting di Paris. Nggak cuma itu, di sana juga terdapat ruangan kecil yang dulunya merupakan studio pribadi Gustav Eiffel. Sayangnya, studio itu nggak terbuka untuk umum, jadi kita cuma bisa mengintip dari jendela. Tapi itu nggak mengurangi kepuasanku!

Kembali kubuka peta untuk menentukan tujuan berikutnya and how to get there. Cukup banyak transportasi umum di Paris. Ada bus, metro, trem, kereta, bahkan kita juga bisa menyewa sepeda. Ada pula transportasi air.

Transportasi air yang terkenal untuk para turis dan traveler adalah the river-boat shuttle service, Batobus. Bertarif 12 euro/person (untuk satu hari penuh) dengan rute delapan titik perhentian di bagian Sungai Seine. Adapula touristic bus Les Car Rouges, bus bertingkat yang mengantar kita berkeliling kota Paris selama 2,5 jam, and it costs 24 euro untuk orang dewasa, dan 12 euro untuk anak-anak. Yap, kalau dibandingkan dengan kota-kota di negara Eropa lainnya, Paris memang kota yang mahal, Girls.

Untuk urusan jalan dan transportasi, jujur saja, aku cukup mengalami kesulitan. Selain jumlah petunjuk jalan sangat minim, hampir semua petunjuk jalan tersebut menggunakan bahasa Prancis (tentu). Kalaupun tanya orang di jalan, nggak semua mau menjawab kalau kita bertanya dalam bahasa Inggris.

Next Destinations

Notre-Dame de Paris is my next destination. Kathedral bergaya gothic yang megah ini terletak di jalan Ile de la Cite wilayah Paris, terkenal dengan novel Victor Hugo yang diterbitkan pada tahun 1831 berjudul Notre-Dame de Paris atau dikenal dengan The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Lalu aku menuju Musee du Louvre, I'm so excited! Inilah salah satu tempat yang menurutku nggak boleh terlewatkan. Bayangkan saja, museum nasional terbesar di Prancis ini dikunjungi lebih dari delapan juta orang per tahunnya. Jelas salah satu alasannya adalah karena sekitar 35.000 barang bersejarah dari masa sebelum Masehi sampai abad ke-19 dipamerkan di tempat ini, termasuk Mona Lisa (La Joconde) dan patung Venus de Milo. Tiket masuk Museum Louvre seharga 9 euro, but I can say that it's so worth for such an experience!

Kota Paris memang tidak terlalu luas, hanya sekitar 86,9 km2 (atau sekitar 1/7-nya kota Jakarta). Tapi aku akui, Paris is indeed a touristic place, banyak banget tempat wisata keren yang bisa dikunjungi. Selain tempat-tempat yang sudah aku ceritakan tadi, ada pula berbagai tempat menarik lainnya, seperti Palais de Chaillot, Madeleine, Jardin Des Plantes, Musee de L'armee, Musee de Orsay, Musee de Luxembourg, Galerie Lafayette, Bastille, dan tempat-tempat bersejarah lainnya.

Aku hanya punya waktu sehari di Paris, jelas tak semua tempat bisa kukunjungi. Tapi berada seharian di Paris menjadi pengalaman traveling yang nggak terlupakan. Walaupun banyak banget turis di sana, Paris is not like another busy country. Aku merasa, kota fashion ini adalah kota yang tenang dan santai. Parisiana are also good in having pleasure in their tranquil time, nggak harus dengan party and drinking, tapi hanya dengan duduk-duduk di pinggir Sungai Seine. Atau sekedar jalan di taman pun mereka bisa enjoy. Like in paradise!

Ups, nggak terasa sudah jam 9 malam. Saatnya aku kembali ke bus and soon leave this delightful city. It's always hard to say good bye, but I won't say that either, because I can't wait too visit this city for the second time. A bientot!

A tiny country with a big history??!

That’s the Netherlands for you!

That's why, negara dengan 16,5 juta penduduknya ini

punya banyak tempat seru dan menarik

untuk dikunjungi. Let's explore it!

The People

Hal yang membuat masyarakat Belanda maju salah satunya adalah karena tingkat kedisiplinan yang tinggi dalam urusan waktu dan tanggung jawab, makanya wajar banget kalo semua orang Belanda punya buku agenda. Mereka pun hemat dan pandai dalam mengelola keuangan. Tapi jangan salah, walaupun serius banget dalam bekerja, mereka tetep pake motto “Work hard, play hard”. They know how to enjoy their life di waktu luang mereka.

Even though you are travelling alone di negeri Kincir Angin ini, nggak perlu cemas, deh… soalnya masyarakat Belanda tuh sangat helpful terhadap tamu-tamu negaranya. Apalagi most of them speak good English. Hhhh… glad to hear that, yaaa. Penduduknya are open-minded and independent. Bahkan anak muda di atas usia 20 tahun, kebanyakan sudah pisah rumah dari orangtua mereka dan berlatih hidup mandiri. Pokoknya, freedom is a popular keyword in Holland.

The Food

Milk and cheese heaven! Di Belanda terdapat 9 jenis keju dengan kualitas tinggi, dan kota Alkmaar-lah yang terkenal sebagai kota penghasil keju.

Selain itu, eating herring fish is a must when you visit Holland. Tapi dimakan fresh, ya… alias masih mentah, ditambah sedikit garam dan cacahan bawang bombay, hmm... lekker! Yummy!

Trus ada satu lagi yang pastinya yang ‘gak boleh kelupaan juga, patat met majonaise, atau bahasa Indonesianya kentang goreng pakai mayonaise, he he he… it costs 1,5-2 euro per porsi besar atau sekitar 26.000 rupiah. Sedangkan untuk makanan sehari-hari, rata-rata masih affordable, sekitar 4-15 euro per porsi atau kurang lebih Rp 52.000- Rp 676.000, tinggal kita pintar-pintar memilihnya. Malah kalau masak sendiri bisa jauh lebih hemat.

Must Visit Places

If you are a history lover, Netherlands is a right place for you, karena di sana terdapat sekitar 400 museum. Beberapa yang terkenal di antaranya: Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House (yang menjadi kisah tentang tempat di mana seorang gadis Yahudi cilik bersembunyi dari kejaran Nazi), Amsterdam Historical Museum, Rijkmuseum dan masih banyak lagi

Madame Tussaud, Amsterdam, berisikan patung lilin orang-orang terkenal. Tiket masuknya 21 euro atau sekitar 273 ribu rupiah.

Madurodam, Den Haag. Terdapat miniatur bagunan-bangunan terkenal di dunia. Enak loh di sini, kita bisa “keliling dunia” dalam waktu setengah jam dan berasa jadi giant.

Keukenhof, Lisse. The enormous tulip garden yang sangat terkenal. Namun hanya dibuka setiap bulan April-Mei.

Scheveningen, pantai yang ada di Belanda. Eksotik banget....

Volendam, pelabuhan di bagian utara Belanda. Di daerah inilah masih terdapat wanita-wanita Belanda yang masih menggunakan kostum tradisional mereka. Mau foto sambil berkostum ria?? Bisaaa...

Kanal-kanal di Amsterdam. Mau ngelihat pemandangan yang spektakuler? Bisa kok, dengan naik boat kita bakal menyusuri sepanjang kanal di Amsterdam. Beneran indah banget! It costs 8 euro per orang atau 104 ribu rupiah, untuk 1,5 jam.

Efteling. Inilah theme park terbesar di Netherlands dan salah satu taman bermain tertua di dunia (since 1952). Bahkan di tahun 1992, Efteling mendapat penghargaan sebagai Best Amusement Park in the world! It costs 28 euro or Rp 360.000-an per person, and I bet you, one day is not enough!

Transportation

Banyak pilihan dengan range harga yang berbeda-beda di Holland, antara lain:

Taxi. Tinggal duduk, sih... tapi harganya… muahaaal banget!
Bus. Asli nyaman banget. Bisa pakai strippenkaart yang dapat dibeli di loket atau di supermarket, lalu tinggal dicap ketika kita masuk bus, dan dapat dipakai berulang-ulang. Bisa juga langsung bayar cash ketika masuk ke dalam bus. Untuk jarak yang tak terlalu jauh, butuh sekitar 1-1,5 euro atau kurang lebih 20 ribu rupiah. Coba klik www.ov9292.nl untuk info lebih lanjut.
Troli atau trem. More info klik www.connexxion.nl
Kereta, infonya ada di www.ns.nl. Itupun juga dengan banyak pilihan rute dan waktu. Bisa beli tiket dalam negara untuk seharian penuh (sekitar 25 euro atau 325 ribuan), tiket sekali jalan ke kota lain (5-12 euro atau sekitar 65 ribu-156 ribu rupiah), atau klik ke www.hispeed.nl; www.raileurope.com untuk tiket mampir ke negara-negara lain se-Eropa.
Car. Kalau punya saudara atau teman di Belanda, naik mobil pribadi aja... ke mana-mana nyaman banget.
Finally, the healthiest and cheapest way to transport, naik sepeda!!! Infonya ada di www.enfb.nl, kok. Hampir semua penduduk Netherlands tuh punya sepeda, dan itu sudah jadi hal yang “wajib”. Bahkan jumlah sepeda di Belanda, lebih banyak dari jumlah penduduknya itu sendiri!

Quick Tips

Be on time! Di mana pun, kapan pun, terutama kalau mau naik kendaraan umum. Telat 3 menit saja, kita bakal ketinggalan dan terpaksa menunggu bus atau kereta berikutnya.

Well-prepared. Sebagai pendatang, haruslah kita lebih waspada dan hati-hati. Lengkapi semua dokumen, bawa selalu paspor, ID card dan simpan baik-baik. Malah sebagai backpacker atau traveler, “diwajibkan” untuk pakai body belt (tas pinggang tipis yang dipakaikan langsung di perut), untuk menaruh dokumen penting plus sebagian besar uang cash kita.

Stay healthy. Jaga kesehatan is very important! Minum vitamin setiap hari, cukup waktu untuk tidur, and know our body's limit. 'Lil exercise every morning is very helpful to make us fit.

Belanda punya 4 musim: musim gugur (Sept-Des), musim dingin (Des-Mar), musim semi (Mar-Jun) dan musim panas (Jun-Sept). Musim yang paling nikmat? Musim semi dan summer pastinya!

Are you a shopaholic? Berarti harus tahu jam buka dan tutup toko-toko di sana. Hampir semua toko buka hanya sampai jam 17.30 di hari kerja, sedangkan Sabtu hanya buka sampai jam 3 atau 4 sore, malah kalau hari Senin, beberapa toko baru buka pada jam 1 siang. Tapi tenang, mereka juga punya late night shopping, loh. Biasanya pada hari Kamis atau Jumat malam.

Terutama untuk pecinta museum, kalau memang berencana untuk mengunjungi banyak museum, gak ada salahnya untuk bikin kartu anggota museum, karena akan jauh lebih hemat. Go to www. museumjaarkaart.nl for more info.

Last but not least, try to learn and speak even a 'lil bit Dutch. Karena mereka akan sangat senang dan akan menjadi jauh lebih friendly. They really appreciate it!

Everything's changing

Nothing is everlasting in this life.

I had a lot of friends in my neighborhood when I was kid and used to play anything with them everyday.

Now I don't know where they are. Maybe busy with their study or their work, or even they live no longer here.

I used to keep fighting with my big brother.

Now we've grown up and discuss only the principal things.

When I sat in school, I painted at least once a week.

The pattern has changed when I sat in the college. No time. Then I'm prefer doing it digitally.

I was a shy and defeatist girl.

But experiences taught me to be a tough and optimistic one.

Last year I worked together in the same company & departement with one of my bestfriends from the college. It was a great time.

Now, it's still a great time, only with the different partners.

Everything is going on, everything is changing.

We live our life today with no idea what will change tomorrow.

The best way to pass it through is by cherishing the every single moments.

Because you'll miss it sooner or later.

So, celebrate it!

The Basic Principle of Walking

This is the principle that I generated when I was walking along te street a couple days ago.

So, basically when we walk from a place to another place, we should:

1. Decide the destination and the 'future spot'

2. Thinking & figuring the best path/ route to reach that spot

3. Start walking

4. When we're walking, let our eyes well-focused on the street, so we won't slip or misstep

5. But don't forget to look up and see our position sometimes, so we won't miss the path

6. Keep walking, walking, and aware

7. And tarraaa!!! Unconsciously, we get there!

Sometimes it looks far and exhausting. But when you start walking and keep walking, it's not that far as you thought before.

So does in life.

When we want ourself to move, we wo that basic principle:

1. Decides the goal we want to achieve

2. Learn the route to arrive at that goal

3. The hardest part, start taking action

If we have goal but too lazy to move our feet, then the goal would be even lazier to come to us.

4. When we are already in, focus on what we are doing.

So we put the best effort in every single things we do

5. But don't forget to look up sometimes, and refresh the goal that we want to achieve.

So, we don't just do a routine or even forget where we should arrive.

6. Keep doing with awareness

7. And tarraaa!!! Unconsciously, we reach our goal!!!

Sometimes it looks hard and impossible.

But when you start walking and keep doing, it's not that hard as you thought before.

Oh dear,

sorry that I haven't posted anything yet for quite long time.

I was just back from my trip to Europe for a month... and it was the BEST MONTH ever!!!!! :D

I always love Europe, esp. Netherland, and it was my dream travel destination!

And I never imagine that I've been there last month :D

Basically, I have family in Netherland (my uncle & aunty), and they visited Indonesia every year. Everytime I met them, I always be eager to listen their story about their country. Since then, my dream to visit Netherland was getting bigger and bigger.

So, I've prepared everything to able flying to Netherland since last year. I saved money, I browsed airfares, kept praying, learned dutch language (and I love it ;p), and found the perfect timing was the hardest part...

But, thanks God, everything was going very well, though I felt nervous and 'lil panic because I traveled alone, but overall was great! Unbelievable.. he he

So, I fly in 1st May 09, and back in 26th May 09.

I went to Spain for 10 days ~ Costa Brava, Barcelona, Rupit, El Far, Besalu, and Montserrat

Stayed in Netherland for 10 days ~ Amsterdam, Arnhem, Heerlen, Haarlem, Utrecht, Maastricht, Nijmegen, Lisse, and Efteling

Visited Paris for 1 day

And finally spent 3 days in Germany ~ Bremen and Hamburg

Visiting Netherland was a WONDER for me. Three additional countries? were BIG BONUS for me! ;)

I couldn't thank more...

I know I haven't visited all places (in Holland) yet. But I had no regret at all. I'll save them for my next episode in Netherland. Ha ha ha ;)

'till now, I still felt like I was dreaming, but wasn't sleeping ;).

That was an unforgetable experience with uncountable miracles!

Since I loved travel so much and enjoyed every trip in every places I've ever been, I'm planning to make my own travel notes. That's why I named it Globe-trotting, which means: traveling widely throughout the world. Haha...

Then I designed the cover and I'll print it (in digital printing) maybe on Thursday.

This past week I was just so busy & hectic. Finishing the magazine's deadline and another deadline I had to accomplish, and even I don't have time to post in this blog.

Hwaa,,,,but finally, thanks God I could finish all my tasks, and I feel so relieved!! ;)

A pair of shoes given from my cousin from Netherlands. He lives there and last year he visited Indonesia for a family gathering.

He gave me that souvenir... ha ha

Then I put it on my desk in my office.

I just wanna thank

I was just thinking for awhile and remembered when I was in elementary school, I have a teacher who always punished me when I didn't obey the rules.

And could you guess what punishment she gave to me?

Writing on papers.

A sentence that rewrited for about 100 times!

Example, when I didn't do my homework. She punished me to write this sentences: " I promise to do all my homework at home." And I had to write that 100times.

Since that, everytime I had homework, I always remembered my writing (which was my punishment), then I finished my homework...haha

What a simple thing!

Now in my real life, I want to adapt that "life lesson" I've got.

That's why I want to try my teacher's way.

I writed " Thank You Lord" for many times. full-hearted.

So, whenever I feel sad and upset; disappointed and dissatisfied; poor and weak, I will always remember to thank to Lord, and be grateful.

Because everything is happened for a reason and I believe it's the best way to grow me up to the fullest.

I just wanna thank to Lord for everything I've got and everything that happened in my life. Everything.

Tonight I had a great chit-chat time with some friends (from the office): Ajeng, Disi and Sisca, at Mid Point-Senayan, with a pan of pizza on our table. And we laughed all night! hahaha

Music Boost

Tonight is special.

Why?

Because it's Wednesday.

That's it?

No, no, wait.. I have a reason why Wednesday is a special day.

This noon at the office, my friend, Pieta, asked me and Yuniar to join her to Loca Coffe Club, Kemang (Jakarta).

I said, " Ok, I've no plan yet either!"

So, me, Pieta and Yuniar went to Loca & met Ferry (Pieta's boyfriend) and some friends, Endah & Rhesa.

Pieta ever told me about Endah & Rhesa, that they are great musicians. Endah is vocalist & playing guitar, and Rhesa on bass.

It's about 9 pm & they prepared to play... I'm curious ;)

They sat on the stage & started to perform.

And you know what...

I was 'hypnotized'!

Oh my God! I saw a perfect live acoustic music! With good sound & great atmosphere. People started coming to watch them. They both were great!

After an hour performing, they had break time & another acoustic band filled in. They were great too. We enjoyed the music so much!

Then Pieta said, "Every Wednesday night, there are live acoustic performances here, at Loca. It would become so crowded, because it's a special day."

" Woow...yeah, it's special. Thanks for inviting me, Pie :)"

a cup of inspiration

I've posted this picture as my header image, but I wanna share it again...

Basically I'm a coffee lover, especially cappuccino. While thinking & finding concept for my design project, i'd like to be accompanied with a cup of coffee, it is my 'friend'.

Though one of my friend said that drinking too much coffee isn't good, I still love it. haha. But I listen to him, so I minimize my coffee drinking quantity,,,

If a cup of coffee make me happy,

then a cup of inspiration wouldn't be enough.

Pangandaran Beach

On November 2008, I travelled to Pangandaran Beach, Java, Indonesia.

It's 7 hours way from Jakarta with car, what a long journey!

But I totally enjoyed it!

I sat on the beach, saw the blue sky, felt the wind, and heard the sound of the wave...

what a life...
